How to Progress When You Hit an Obstacle on Your Path To Success

Life is not free of obstacles to overcome or hurdles to jump.

And when you find yourself face-to-face with one, you can lose your motivation, finding it a struggle to continue.

This is the cost of learning, of diving into something new — and you have two choices:

Though you may not feel like it, the only way to succeed is to fight your way through, to give it all you’ve got to overcome the obstacle.

This is a tactic that will help you fight.

It may sound counterproductive but imagine your path is like a video game.

Each level you face is more brutal than the last, each obstacle more challenging to navigate and each boss a whole lot stronger.

But you’re not starting from scratch.

You’ve levelled up. You have experience. You have wins under your belt.

Everything you’ve learnt along the way, every obstacle you’ve overcome, every boss you’ve defeated, it all adds up.

As you move forward, as you take steps towards your goal, you will face more obstacles — and they will be a challenge — but do not become disheartened if it takes you a while to overcome.

At this moment, step aside and reflect.
See how far you’ve come.

Recall the obstacles that stood in your way before, obstacles that are far behind you now.

Look at how much you’ve learnt, how much you’ve experienced and endured already.

If you overcame the last obstacle, you can certainly overcome the next.

Use your experiences to give you the strength to continue pursuing your dream.
