Monitor and Forecast Your Oracle Cloud Spending

Various surveys indicate that Organizations are over budget for cloud spend and their cloud spend is increasing over the years. An organization needs to understand where this public cloud usage costs originated within organization to enforce proper control and optimize cost. It is also important to understand the cloud cost outflow by various environment (i.e., development, QA, production) or by line of business (HR, Finance, R&D etc.) or by Cloud Services (Compute, Storage, Networking, AI/ML, Analytics, Warehouse etc.) and so on. Visibility into the entire spectrum of costs is critical to properly understand organizational spending patterns. You can use spending patterns to enforce cost control mechanisms, like budgets.

In this article, we will analyze how you use Oracle Cloud Cost Analysis to explore and analyze your OCI Cost usage across various dimensions. You can analyze the spend on Daily or Monthly basis and even get a Forecast for the upcoming months.

So, let us begin. It is assumed that you are authorized to access the Cost Analysis. If not, please consult your OCI Tenancy Administrator for addition of IAM policies to allow you visualize Cost for your OCI tenant.

Login to Oracle Cloud Console using your tenancy detail and login credentials. After successful authentication, go to OCI Menu >> Billing & Cost Management >> Cost Analysis under Cost Management.

The landing page shows you three sections.
