Green Funding and Billionaire Obsession

Seems whenever we envision a largish social expenditure, first port of call for many is billionaires.

The IMF claims the fossil fuel industry got a whopping $5.2 trillion(!) in subsidies in 2017 alone. Even if you dispute their accounting, governments spent $500 billion just on fuel subsidies, more than enough to cover the UN amount. Cutting those subsidies would have the added benefit of reducing fossil fuel use and emissions.

I could go on, but hopefully this will convince you that there are better ways to fund climate change than billionaires who, if you are dead-set on pillaging, could be saved for other uses.
