Amal journey

I hope to continue writing blogs even after the Amal fellowship ends. Yeah, it is surprising that this three-month journey passed like the wind. I was so happy that finally the period of misery came to an end but believe me I was crying my eyes out at the last session. I don’t know why I got so emotional but my Sir said something and it goes like this: “We created a family at Amal, a family that we meet every weekend but now it’s gone.” I mean it is still there but we are not going to see each other at weekends.

Let me share my weekends at Amal because “Amal weekends” are not Normal weekends. Normally, I wake up at noon on Saturday. Wait a minute, before you all start judging me let me remind you that we all have been gone through this time. But at Amal weekends I wake up at 8 am and I reached the university at 9 am because at Amal being punctual means that you have to reach on time. We are the generation that keeps pending work until the deadline is by today’s midnight. Time management, leadership skills, and teamwork make us practice all the soft skills and we implemented all skills practically. Right now I want to talk about what I liked the most about Amal because the information on these practical skills can be read from anywhere but I want to write my learning from Amal.

The Amal fellowship aims to bring a change in society by bringing change in the mindset of the youth. That is what I loved the most about Amal Academy. Their aim is not to get us a job but make us realize what we actually want from us. This “SELF REALIZATION” term, is way more diverse than we think it is. It reminds me of my first few Amal sessions in which we are supposed to connect the dots and discover our WHY’s. At that moment it seems like nothing but now if I think any of it wasn’t useless. It has a purpose. Like we all have. I have a friend and whenever I say that I’m sick of this life he always says this to me: “Anosha, Allah has created all of us for a special purpose. Do you think you have done something really special until now? If not then you are still supposed to live because we all have to complete our special mission.”

Amal made me realize what is the one special thing that I want to do in my life. We spend 4 years at university and were still unable to make that bond with our friend that I made at Amal in a 3-month fellowship. All I can say is I made a family and we can rely on each other for anything that we might face in the future. This is my Amal family.
